Modern vehicles are equipped with assistance systems that enhance our safety today and are intended to enable autonomous driving tomorrow. Connected to sensors such as cameras and radar, navigation systems and the internet, they do more than help us stay in our lane or recognise traffic signs. They can also regulate speed themselves or initiate emergency braking if we fail to notice something. In theory, they work perfectly; in practice, they still make mistakes.
